Professional Bio

Jonathan H. Lack is the founder of ROI Ventures and a seasoned business strategist and fractional COO with more than 35 years of management experience helping businesses improve strategy, operations, profitability, and sustainable growth. He works with top residential agents and real estate team leaders to build more manageable, profitable, and sustainable businesses behind their production.
Jonathan helps leading residential teams strengthen the operating model behind their growth. His work focuses on the core operating disciplines that drive performance: strategy, structure, financial reporting, workflows, talent strategy, lead conversion, and accountability. As a fractional COO, he provides senior-level operating support that helps team leaders make better decisions, manage growth more effectively, improve profitability, reduce operational chaos, and build businesses that are less dependent on constant personal effort.
Jonathan’s work with top residential agents and real estate team leaders reflects a consistent theme from his management career: as organizations grow, their strategy, structure, people, systems, and financial discipline must evolve. Drawing on management experience across more than 15 industries—including family businesses, finance, healthcare, high-growth companies, professional services firms, real estate, startups, technology, and turnarounds—he applies proven business disciplines to help high-performing real estate teams operate with greater clarity and discipline.
Early in his career, Jonathan held roles with MCI International and later served as part of the founding senior management team at CompuBank, NA, the first virtual national bank backed by GE, Goldman Sachs, Marsh McLennan, and SoftBank. His sophisticated yet pragmatic approach was also shaped by his family business background, growing up working in Lack’s Inc., the Houston-based retail business founded by his grandfather—an experience that gave him a firsthand understanding of the pressure, complexity, and accountability involved in running a business.
Since 1994, Jonathan has helped business leaders improve strategy, operations, profitability, and sustainable growth. He holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, an MA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, and a BA in Middle East Studies from UC Berkeley. He is the author of Plan to Turn Your Company Around in 90 Days and You Can’t Scale Chaos, and co-author of The Real Estate Team Playbook.
